The goal of the River City Running Club Racing Challenge is to increase club member participation at local road races, to provide a friendly competition between RCRC members, and to help boost support for local events and event organizers. Runners receive points based on their places within their age group in designated Grand Prix races. Scoring rules for the challenge are listed below. Certificates will be awarded to the top runners in each age group at the annual RCRC banquet.
SCORING/RULES: 1. Participants must be River City Running Club members (or children of members under the age of 18) who are current in dues payment. 2. Points will be earned in the following age groups for both male and female runners: 19 and under 3. Runners will earn points based on their placing in their age group for each designated race. 1st place – 20 points 4. To determine points a runner earns in a race, only RCRC members will be counted. 5. The points from the 7 races in which the RCRC runner earned the most points will be used to determine the runner’s overall point total. In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by adding the greatest number of points earned by each person in an eighth race. If the tie still exists, it will be broken by the points from a ninth race, and so on until the tie is broken. 6. RCRC members who change age groups before July 1st will compete in the older age group category that year. Those changing after July 1st will compete in the younger category for the entire year.
7. At the annual RCRC banquet age group place winners will be recognized for their efforts in this Racing Challenge event. Other awards for each age group will be based on total number of participants and participation in that age group.
